Back in the day, before our littlest kiddos joined our family through foster care… I was photographing 30-44 weddings per year pretty consistently. I found a good balance at about 15-20 per year right before our little guy arrived and once he came, I stopped taking on weddings altogether. Not because I don’t love weddings (because truthfully, they’re still one of my absolute favorite things to photograph) but because our court dates were always set for Fridays, I was always worried about if I had a wedding and couldn’t make a court date: so I stopped shooting weddings for a while. 

Once things settled down with the babies and adoption was on the horizon and then eventually finalized, I knew I could ease back into the wedding scene on my own pace and timeline. Occasionally, I’ll get a request for a wedding and now I can happily and comfortably take it without feeling pulled in different directions internally and be able to be fully present for my happy couple. That’s what happened with Zach and Jessica. 

I was excited for this opportunity to shoot a wedding at the Columcille Megalith Park in Bangor, PA for them and to capture this intimate ceremony with just the bride, groom and their parents. The ceremony was performed by Zach’s dad and both of their moms had a reading as well. After the ceremony, we took a leisurely stroll around and hit all of the picturesque photo opportunities within the park. I was LOVING the cloudy day for photos and the non-timeline type of event I got to work with. They were open to whatever I wanted to do and I felt like I was back in my wedding hay-day! I loved the sweet simplicity of it all. It truly was such a lovely day.

I’m looking to take on lots more intimate weddings in the Lehigh Valley throughout the year moving forward so if you know someone who is getting married and keeping it on the smaller and more “chill” side, tell them you know a girl with a camera 😉 and send them my way.
