Harry and Brittany are one of my 2020 wedding couples who had the biggest changes happen to their originally planned days. They were supposed to be married October 2nd, 2020 at Edgewood Country Club until COVID hit and they were worried if they waited ‘til then, the wedding wouldn’t happen at all. They ended up moving it up to Brittany’s parent’s backyard in Palmerton, PA and they had the most gorgeous, humid August 22nd wedding day with 90 of their closest friends and family in a tent.
It was blue skies and perfect clouds all day. As we began their first look, I felt the first drizzle and immediately checked the weather app. NOTHING. I thought, ok weird. “Rain on a wedding day is good luck guys!” and we pressed on. As we walked around the neighborhood, the rain picked up but still, blue skies and certainly no gloomy rain clouds. I was able to get some photos of the bride and groom until we made the decision to wait out this freakish non-existent rain cloud. Thank goodness we did. As the Edgewood caterers pulled up and started to unload the van with the wedding food, the sky let loose and while there was blazing sun, there was also a heavy drenching downpour of rain. My mind was blown. I truly had never seen anything like it. On the radar, was a *tiny* and I mean, MINISCULE, green blip on the radar and it was directly under the pin on the map where I was standing. The only rain on the radar was directly over Brittany’s parents house and like three other neighbors. It rained for a solid 30 minutes and we all just waited patiently and laughed.
Once it turned back into a mist, we went back outside and got some more fun photos. Their neighbor wiped all of the seats down for the ceremony and guests started to show up. Everyone kept their distance. Harry and Britt said “I Do”. We partied the night away and had a beautiful cotton candy sunset to boot.
These two were the definition of turning lemons into lemonade. I guarantee if you asked them, they wouldn’t change a thing about their wedding day now. They rolled with the punches. And it was the perfect day, start to finish, deluge and all!
So many congrats to the newlyweds, The Prys. I love knowing I was one of the lucky people who got to be there on day one! Xo Lg
