Typically, when I have my final phone consult with my brides, I don’t mention the weather because truthfully… I don’t ever look at the weather. But everyone I spoke to the week before their wedding in passing said, “Going to be a wash out this weekend!” or “Hope you don’t have a wedding this weekend!” and so I knew going into our phone call that weather would have to be a discussion. I assured them that no matter what, we would find a place to do photos and make beautiful portraits for them.
Fast forward to Saturday, the rain was relentless. I remember watching the girls being ushered into the house taking cover from the rain and I told Courtney that I had a back up inside plan if needed!
She looked stunning! Another bride who I’ve known through a club my husband is a part of in Hazleton, PA. We’ve been to Yankees games together and I’ve watched her go from a middle schooler to graduating with her doctorate. I met Justin through their family and they’ve been together for as long as I remember. They are the perfect compliment to each other.
As we left for the ceremony, the rain was pouring down and throughout the entire ceremony it continued. My second shooter Becky came over to me as we were setting up for the family formals in the church and she said, “You’re not going to believe this but it stopped raining!” I told her not to toy with my emotions and went to look for myself and sure enough it had stopped raining. We were blessed that the outside of the church was gorgeous and we had a perfect ivy backdrop for photos. I cried happy tears when we left for the reception. When I say I’m 100% present on a wedding day, I’m all in. Emotionally involved from the word GO! No matter what the weather, I do what I can to make gorgeous photos… but what I don’t always let on about rainy weddings is that they’re SUPER stressful. Because I have a lot of people (bridal party, parents, MYSELF) that I’m trying to remind to stay positive so that there’s no extra stress on the B&G. I love how in the photos you can’t see stress. You see two people so much in love and surrounded by people who love them so much. The break in the rain was a gift from above and obviously I’m STILL super grateful for it.
The rest of the night went off perfectly. I got to hang out with DJ Adam from Skuba Entertainment who I love to work with. If you ever wonder if the uplighting package your DJ offers is worth it, be sure to check out their fun dancing shots! I also got to see my former bride, Cortney from Capriotti’s Catering where the food is always delicious and the service never disappoints!
Justin and Courtney, I am so thrilled you two have found love and bring out the very best in each other! Thank you for including me on your day. I can’t wait ’til you see all the photos! Xo Lg
